Dean grew up in Washington County, Virginia in the High
Point community. He was attending John S. Battle High School
when his horticulture teacher, Phillip McCroskey, really sparked
his interest in horticulture. Dean’s first job was with a garden
center in Bristol while he was in high school. He attended
Virginia Polytechnic Institute. During his time there he became
interested in Horticulture and Landscape Design as a career and
he has loved it ever since. While obtaining his Bachelor of
Science in Horticulture he did two internships; one in
Baltimore, MD and the other in Raleigh, NC. Both gave him great
experience in diverse areas of horticulture. Just before
graduation in 1996 he interviewed with a garden center in
Kingsport, TN where Angie hired him as a Landscape Designer. In
addition to his work at Four Seasons, Dean also teaches
several horticulture classes at Virginia Highlands Community
College and is a Deacon at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. |
